Tea Lights + Old Ladles = Gorgeous DIY Bathroom Lighting

Tea Lights + Old Ladles = Gorgeous DIY Bathroom Lighting

Okay, so this isn’t as much as review of a product as a review of  do-it-yourself project for romantic bathroom lighting.  We found this idea on a Dutch lifestyle magazine website, and though I can’t understand any of the associated text, the photo is pretty self-explanatory, so we put together some simple instructions that anyone should be able to follow:

  1. Find some old ladles.  The more patina the better here, so if you don’t have any around your kitchen, check thrift stores, flea markets, etc and you’re sure to find some.  A matching set would be ideal.
  2. Buy some tea lights.  You can find these in candle or general home decor stores – I have a bag of 100 I bought for just a few dollars at Ikea.
  3. Hang the ladles somewhere in your bathroom.  Any place with a sturdy edge will work – the top of the shower door, a towel bar, a linen tower, etc.  You can either cluster them together as shown in the photo or spread them out around your bathroom for a more even lighting effect.
  4. Place a tea light in each ladle and light the wick.  Voila!

Whether you’re planning a romantic evening with a significant other or a relaxing soak for yourself after a hard day at work, this is a simple and inexpensive way to create the mood you want!
